Thank you for wanting to find out more about what we have to offer at South and Vale. If you are energised by challenge and prepared to help lead the councils through our next period of growth, we'd love to hear from you.
As you would expect from a pair of councils that have been at the forefront of shared working, we've been in the news again recently. Having led the way in joint working since 2006, we're now in partnership with three other southern councils in a ground-breaking programme of outsourcing. Radical cost-saving contracts begin on August 1st and managing a successful transition will be an early priority for you. Then we'll be needing a flatter management structure to reflect the reduced size of the councils, so this too will be an early task if you become our new chief executive.
Our bold proposals for devolution in Oxfordshire have also hit the headlines. Though the way forward is still to be determined, our ambition for the councils remains undimmed. We'll be looking to you to challenge and complement our political leadership with your own strategic insight and strength of purpose.
Add to the mix the pressing need to accelerate the delivery of new housing, to breathe new life into our town centres, and - after last year's fire - to find a permanent home for our staff, and you'll appreciate that this role is not for the faint-hearted. If you're up for it, we look forward to meeting soon.
